FB jamming windows!
My '85 GSL with power windows has had the windows jamming a lot lately and I was wonderingif this is a common problem on FBs with power windows? It's easy to fix temporarily, you just take off the door panel and take out the rail bolt and get it re-aligned. It's annoying though and happens at the worst times.
Is there a permanent fix to this though? Any tips?

Its usually rail alignment that needs attention.A little grease in the lower channel where the rollers are,is a good idea too.
Also, the window channel felt is pretty much worn out on our cars. The little whiskers that help the window slide are usually gone, with the rubber underneath it now exposed. The rubber grips the window instead of letting it slide, and so the whole thing *****,especially when its wet.

What happens when the regulator dies is that the two bearings fall apart and no longer hold the window tight and straight. Unfortunately, the hardware store does not have replacement bearings...
That's IF it's the regulator.

Window felt is easy to replace, just order some up from VB or .......the dealer,(ahhhhh$$$!!!!)
The factory manual is vauge when it comes to window adjustment, but basically it goes like this.......
Horizontal adjustment.
1.Raise window all the way.
2.Make sure glass sits horizontal by adjusting regulator guide.(2 side-by-side bolts towards the back of the door.
3.Check glass movement for smoothness.
Fore-aft adjustment.
1.Loosen the front rail bolt.(very front of the door panel)
2.Bring the rail rearward until the window has no play, fore-aft.
3.Check glass movement for smoothness.
Ive tried it all, and my drivers window still gets jammed in the winter.Since it moves fine when I lube the runners with silicone,I chalked it up to the worn felt guides.
