FB Intercooler

I am planning on installing an intercooler in 85 GLSE. I am about to transplant a 6 port out of an 88 and than build a home made turbo set up. Does anyone know the best size intercooler to use in a FB. Should I use an intercooler with the input and output on the same side? V-mount?

Help please.

alright man, i'm gonna try not to sound like an *******, but please do a search, it has been covered in fully detail, i believe someone even did their own website to list all the things needed for a turbo set up i've only lightly scanned it but it should give out good info...otherwise use the search function using words like "turbo" "12a turbo" "turbo 12a" "TII swap" and such....here's that website link http://sites.google.com/site/elwoodsturbofb/

A$$hole? I wonder why. If you search the first gen section, there are quite a few turbo FBs floating around here............

Thanks Blackdeath647. I don't think you sound like an A$$hole. I did try to search for the article, but I had no success.

Anyways thanks for the link, I will close this thread.

XS Power on eBay sells crap turbos, but their tubular turbo exhaust manifold for rotaries and their fmics aren't bad. I haven't checked for a while but the intercooler that will fit a 1st gen ran about under 100 bucks. 3" deep, 12" thick, don't recall the overall width but I think the core was 24" wide, more than enough for 350-400 hp. Iirc, you could get the inlet/outlet tubes in 2-1/2 or 3" Get which ever one matches your choice of turbos. 2-1/2" if you're running a stock or hybrid 2nd gen turbo.

Don't go any larger than 24w x 12h x 3d.

I would reccomend smaller.
