I want to go electric... but I have to pick up and break in the car... all I need is for it to keep cool under 40 mph on the 2k mile trip home... I dont want to have to bring a tool box with me... just a 10mm wrench and a fan...
I was gonna help but then you got all hateful... j/k.
I haven't a clue what water pump would be on a cosmo. How about asking someone with the car to measure the holes for diameter and circumference and then check your fan clutch to see if you got a match.

It's only 4 bolts. Just ask them to measure the distance between the 2 holes.
Also, you could take it easy and turn the heat on under 40 mph.
Or, bring a fan, a relay and a switch. You could wire the thing up in 15 minutes. Just run the switch out from the hood and into the window.
finally, PLEASE, DO NOT go without tools and spares. Odds are pretty bad that a motor swapped car that you know nothing about that was up for sale will go 2000 miles without a hiccup.
Good Luck!

I think I am going to have to run a electric fan on it... I do want to take tools and parts but I am going to fly there... not going to beable to take alot of stuff with me... I figure it will prolly break down once or twice and I hope I can figure it out... if I have to I can rent a u- haul and just trailer it back... your right I dont know how it was wired in I dont know what sensors it has to run off of... the guy I am buying doesnt either since the work was done by another shop... to have the car shipped it would be about $1200 and I am not saying he is not a trust worthy guy but I am not going to spend 5k on 10k worth of parts sitting in a car sight unseen so I want to fly down there and look at it 1st... might be a better idea to get a small u haul truck put it in the back and drive back here... I dont know I just might through a fan on it and hope I can make it home without any troubles... after all the work was done by a very reputable shop...

The cheapest auto transporter I have found was 850? most of them are sittiing at 1200+... plus how do I know that I am geting the car... or the title??? it would suck to get a stock 1st gen in the car with a note that says haha...
Hey, I'm all for the trip. It'll be risky, but you'll probably have a good time. Convince a buddy to come with you, and stay very zen about the whole thing. Being stuck in a one horse town at midnight is an adventure.
Save some cash and take a bus out, you'll be able to carry more tools.
Look around (google even) for how relays work. They're all the same. A relay, some wire, a switch and some crimp connectors is all you need. A fuse if you are feeling particularily unlucky.
Oh, and fix your avatar
