New LED back lights are probably a future upgrade, but will that help with the needles at all?.
The LEDs will improve this a lot. Its an easy DIY and its cheap. You can get them on amazon for ~$10 for like 10 or 12 194 LEDs. Then just pull the cluster, which you will need to do to recalibrate the guages and swap in the 4 194s for the cluster. Big improvement.

Awesome, that will definitely be happening soon. By any chance does the dimmer still work with the LEDs? Not really that important, just curious. As a side note, I've had the cluster out before and it seems that every time I put it back in, something doesn't work. Be it the volt meter, idiot lights, or some other gauge. I'm figuring this may be an issue with the harness plugs on the back not making proper contact or something. Thoughts? Also, do the gauges have a green filter on them or are the bulbs actually a green tint. In other words, should I just get clear bulbs and it will stay green or potentially look for a different color? I'm fine with green, but ya know, just something else to learn.

Back to the exhaust, my new gaskets come today so I'm hoping part of the raspyness is due to an exhaust leak from the old ones. I also have another hanger or two to install so perhaps that'll dampen the reverb ever so slightly.

I'll be doing the gauge calibration and exhaust tomorrow so I'll let y'all know what I find out.

The bulbs are clear, just get the clear LEDs. These cars don't look right with a different color IMHO. The dimmer works almost like an on/off switch but at the edge it will dim the LEDs a little bit.

Yeah, those plugs are biotch to get back in and well seated. Same goes for the speedo cable too. Small hands and/or patience.
