If you changed the gaskets and you are still getting exhaust in the car you need to chech the pipes from front to back as well as the cat and the muffler. Just don't look at them, touch areas with your finger or a screwdriver that look rusted, it may look solid but all the metal is gone exept the little amount that has rust. Did you change all the gaskets from the exhaust man to the exhaust pipe?

I forgot , if all that checks out and you have access to a lift, get it in the air and running, have someone with a welding glove on and a rage block the exhaust pipe for about 30sec. at a time while you start going over the exhaust system ( do this in a well vented area or take breakes as often as needed). Listen for a rushing sound at the gaskets if you hear it or feel the air that is your leak.

Rotary engines must run rich at idle in order to idle at all.

Things will be fumey. Even running as lean as I can and still run smoothly, it's a gag master if you're sensitive.

If the exhaust system is perfectly closed (gaskets etc) you might want to check dor and especially hatch seals. The later has a tendency to get exhaust fumes in the car when not sealing well. And it's the part you'll think of last
