exhaust part swapping

I have a racing beat header on my 1985 12A. I am buying the presilencer to go with it. The problem is I dont have the stock pipe that will connect the presilencer to the original muffler. All the junkyards in town have '83 cars and older. Plus racingbeat only sells the connecting pipe for '83 cars and older and for way too much $. Will any of the older connecting pipes fit? Or does it have to be an '84-'85 pipe?

Mazdatrix sells flanges and THICK exhaust tubing stock. The tubing cost like 13 bucks. Anyway, that's what I did and had a local muffler guy do all the fitting and welding.
