Question engine transplant

I want to put a newer 81 engine into my older 80 rx7 wich has the old style dizzy. I plan to run the engine without the emmisions crap. Will the old style dizzy work fine with the newer engine? Are the old dizzy's as good as the newer ones? I have another wiring harness and dash etc for a 81. Shud I change the wiring harness over and the dash? Will the back tailight plugs plug into the newer harness? If anyone out there can answer a few of these questions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The newer engine will have an electronic ignition rather than the points setup... this does not have the dwell change with twear... In my oninion better.

The rest I don't have time to answer right now...

I doubt there is much electronics that need to be swapped.... unless of course you need all the emissions crap.

The '80 dizzy is fine to keep, but if your car has a '79 points dizzy, I'd recommend an '81-'85 dizzy.

The upgrade is easy and recommended.

If you've never done one before, the engine swap should be easy as well; aligning the clutch splines is the hardest part. A Haynes manual will provide the steps just take your time. Good luck.
