engine swap
Yeah, you're certainly not the first to have this idea.
Use an '87-'88 or '89-'91 turbo motor. The swap is easier, the engines are internally very similar (especially the '89-'91) and you can plausibly use mostly stock parts, whereas no sane person would intentionally use the 3rd gen setup.

Told you youd be instructed to search.
It can be done and has been done, although not nearly as often as the TII swap. The 3rd gen engine is powerful and impressive, but also complicated, more expensive and rare, compared to the TII.If you go though with it(which is sounds like you not ready to attempt) your gonna be pretty much on your own, wherease if you did a TII single turbo swap, youll have many people to glean knowledge from about the work required.
You need to search first, then ask single, specific questions along the way as you perform the swap.Everyone and their mother askes the same, broad question about swapping turbo engines into their 1st gen......we cant type a 10 page response 3 times a week, you need to search, everything you need to know is here.

at least not with the stock turbos and ecu. too much **** that won't fit. if you use the FD block, and a single with standalone it oculd be done, but why? the 13bre form the cosmo shares many of the advancements of the fd block yet retains the better rotors of the TII and the center block motor mounts, which makes it a much easier candidate than the FD block.
or make it easy on yourslef like mentioned before and use the FC block.
regardless I have the oil pan, front engine mounts, front cover and a modified FC manifold/turbo setup that are alreay modded for this. the front cover has been tigged up and drilled for the s-5 OMP so you do not have to jerry rig it, and other than the electronics makes it almost a drop in. PM me.
