They are fast because, depite the weight of the batteries........
Electric motors=BIG torque at any RPM.
Electric motors power the hugest machines in the world, because they are simple, smooth and powerful.
Once you have huge, lag free torque on tap then its just a matter of gearing, to maximize launch traction and juggle topend speed.

Damn I like the sound of this Electic First Gens. What dose it require in order to make one Electric? Just Curious.

i've always been thinking about doing this someday its just awsome that someone has, electric will always be much faster and easier then gas, just takes the right people to show you how its done.

i guess in a way its still a rotary too lol.

see the thing for making an electric car making huge numbers like that isn't the hard part for them, but more putting that in a street car that you need to drive for a prolong amount of time. For these car you really don't need the car running more than 5 minutes. So it doesn't matter if you're discipation all the energy in those batteries in 10 minutes cause its only a track car. Take that on the street see him go a few block and the engine is out of power. Thats the thing about different fuels for out cars, which ones can we really use without having to refill it ever couple of hours or so. Its like in france and australia, they have this compressed air rotary engine (If you go to www.youtube.com and search it you'll find it) neat little engine that they will be starting to use in industries to carry things around, the whole engine basically weighs about 15lb if i remember correctly and produces enough power to haul people around and things in the back !!! thats what I call insane power to weight ratio.

Heres a pic of the engine.

Found that site a while back and saved the pic.
I thought I had a better pic looking straight down at it, but can't seem to find it.
