Sounds like it is now her car and you owe nothing. Do you have a bill of sale with her signiture on it?

Your description of the car was accurate. Buyers remorse. Tell her you would be more than happy to give all her money back in return for the car.

Just be kind and let her know that you do not owe her anything. If that does not work then "**** off" and the finger should do it.

DON'T CAVE!!! You said everything you needed to in the discription! She got exactly what you said she would get. If she didn't want the car she wouldn't have given you the money. You said that the clutch had started to act funny in the discription of the car... end of it. Hold on to your lugnuts!!!

$300 is way too much....tell her she gets $150 for a new clutch and that's it. Being on eBay, she should realize she'll have change left over even using the "Buy It Now" button out there...if she has the rolling car and the drivetrain after all is said and done, $500 purchase price is flat out ripping YOU off.....

Why not give her all her money back and let her keep the car. Come on you made her drive it 800 miles, that such an inconvience. Your so mean to make her drive 800 miles to pick up the car SHE bought that is 20 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your parents have a problem with binding contracts!

Yep, don't give her anything, ebay rules stipulate that by submitting a bid and winning an auction you are in a legal binding agreement. Tell her this is a business not a charity, If she didn't want to pay that much she shouldn't have bid.

P.S. Tell your parents to grow a set.

Wow, that is the suckiest saddest thing I have ever read. I have had the chance to buy many many first gens. Not that this is making me the first gen expert or anything, but I wouldnt give that lady anything. Nothing. In fact I would probably bitch her out every time I saw her or talked to her. Shes being really snobby about this and kinda acting like a typical whiny female, you owe her nothing and it sucks that you gave into her whinyness. If you want I'll talk to her and straighten her out........

this is what she said

I understand that the drive train is worth 600.00 but I did not buy the car for the drive train (honestly the gas gauge is the least of my worries) In the ebay the pictures of the front fenders were at a dissence as to not show the weak parts of the car and kept anyone from seeing the rust on the bottom of the doors . Now way you can see the rust under door the time of day the picture were taken.. should have been a clue. ....it cost me 800.00 to pick up the car from the garage...and it is still a rust bucket... I came home dragging the shielding from the muffler. This does include the cost of picking the car up....)......I have other cars that need to be restored but this car...we are talking complete rust under the car with holes and all of the shielding for the exhaust has fallen off. I never expect to have to take a cutting torch to the car to restore it. I guess I should have never paid for it until I put it on a rack (I EXPECT PEOPLE TO BE HONEST) Mark, I am not a perfect person but I like to think I have Integrity... The guy at the garage said sell it to someone else. I just can not do this to some else. I would be happy with 300.00....but you must understand (I thought this would be a dream car...62k miles...that would make you think it had been garage kept..not a RUST Bucket .) This is a nightmare to me....
Thanks
Robin

this is what she first said.... i dont know where she gets that it is a 100 mile trip to tenn.???

I am thinking about contacting Ebay. This car is falling apart....All of the shielding from the exhaust has fallen off on the way home a 100miles trip. There is a whole under the rear fender. Between the fender and the door. Both doors have rust at the bottom edge..I do no how you feel about this...I do not think you were complete honest.....I am very disappoint. I would like some of my money back.

this is what my dad said last night

Robin,

I’m really sorry about this whole deal and I do feel bad that you had to put $800.00 in the car immediately. I do understand how you are feeling, but once again, we did not try to deceive you.

I looked for six months before I purchased this car as a gift to my son and paid $1,000.00 for it in September 2003. I planned on working with Chris to restore it. Due to Chris’ work and school schedule, we were not able to do anything with the car. So, that is why we decided to sell it. I still believe the car is worth restoring.

We are willing to send you $300.00 to put closure to this situation. Again, we do not feel the price was unfair but we learned a lesson on selling a car on e-bay. We will stick to the old fashion way – have a person come out and look at the car and then make a deal.

Robin, sending you the $300.00 is not admitting wrong but that I am willing to lose money because of this situation.

Let me know how you want to handle this money transaction (whether by pay-pal or bank check).

Thanks,

Mark

this is what we said before.... sorry about the reverse order....

I’m sorry you are now disappointed with your purchase after driving the RX-7 800 miles home. I tried to state the condition of the car as well as I could, down to the gas gauge that did not work.

I also tried to clearly communicate that the car would need to be restored and provided lots of pictures.

Regarding your concern with rust, 20- year old Ohio cars typically have rust on all body parts that are not painted. In Ohio, the road crews use lots of salt in the winter, so it can’t be avoided, like in the southern states.

However, I would like you to feel you got an ok deal if possible, so what do you recommend regarding adjusting the price? The drive train alone is worth at least $600.00 with only 62,000 original miles.

Please let me know what you would be satisfied with and hopefully we can work it out.

We did not intentionally try to mislead you in any way.

Thank you,

Mark Seeley (Chris’ dad)
