E-Fan swap question...

Whats up guys? I am fairly new here and I bought my GSL-SE with no fan. I found a thread on here before about doing the swap and all the details involved, but can't find it again. I bought a fan, but it only has a red and black wire coming out of it. What all can I take off of the old assembly, and what kind of wire/relay/switches do I need to make the fan turn on and off as it should?
Or if there is a thread with all this information, could someone point me in the right direction please...

Red is positive, Black is negative

You'll need an e-fan thermoswitch. They're available at all sorts of places like Jegs, Summit Racing, Black Dragon Auto, etc...

The thermoswitch will come with a temp probe that you put in the fins of the radiator. It will have a **** on it to adjust the temperature where it turns on and off, and you'll have to play with it for a while to balance between keeping your car's engine cool enough, and not running your battery dead when you shut the car off.

No problem, your going to need something like this:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
You need a temperature sensor and a relay to provide power to the fan when the radiator reaches a certain temp. As for mounting the fan, you can use the through the radiator pins like these:

Or some sort of bracket That you can either buy or fabricate, which is what i would recommend. I hear the pins that go through the radiator can wear through the core. Hope i could help you out.

You have the option of running a thermostatically controlled system or you can run a simple on/off toggle switch. I have been running a toggle switch for the past 2 years, you just have to monitor you temperature but you should do that anyways when you have a Rotary engine. :-)

Also the electric fan mounting kits that they supply which is the 4 ny ties with special mounting pads work just fine. Mine has been on there for 2 years and they do not move nor cause any issues.

You also have the option of having the fan on full time except in 4th and 5th gear which is how I run mine.

Or installing a factory fan which will cool better for regular road usage and some occasional autocrossing

Well, I didn't think to ask here, but I looked in the forum classifieds and there was nothing. Local junkyard had nothing but 12as, and the two factory fans I bought off ebay turned out to be 12a too. There is a 25mm difference between holes in the two fans... So I just got frustrated and got an electric one. I thought about the toggle switch, but there had to be a better way, and if someone else ever had to drive my car for any reason, I wouldn't want to put a task like that on their hands...

What i did when i had this kind of set up was use a relay switched by a e-fan switch, i powered the e-fan switch from a wire that came off the passenger side harness, that way it only ran when the car was on (i just played around with a voltage meter until i found a wire that was switched by the ignition). you can pick up the relay and switch at any auto parts store, i do suggest that you don't buy the cheapest one though, the first one i bought got stuck on and severely reduced the life of my alternator (the fan i was running was over kill).
