E-fan going on, clutch fan off. Couple questions.

I've got a Black Magic 150 coming finally. I'll remove the clutch fan... will need to deal with the bolts somehow (to maximize clearance). I searched but don't see the entire procedure for complete and permanent clutch fan removal procedure.

I also have the double alternator pulley setup as well as the underdriven waterpump pulley (which I guess has nothing to do with this at all). Should I go back to single pulley? Single belt for engine, water pump, alternator and a/c compressor ? Serpentine mod ? Advice appreciated.

David, the switchover is straight forward. I believe that I have used the bolts that hold the fan clutch fan on to replace the ones that hold the fan clutch to the pulley.
Thats all there is to it.
I don't care for the underdrive pulley for the water pump because it slows down the water flow at idle which is not a good thing
I personally would stay with the single pulley system.

Keep the dual pulley for the alt. As far as oem fan removal, remove the aluminum extension hub too. If you have 4 extra oil pan bolts, they work fine for holding the old fan pulley on. If not, I believe the bolts will be 6X100 mm, 1/2"long. The bolts holding the top of the front fenders on, inside the bay, are the same size.

Unless you are road racing, I really don't see much use in underdrive pulleys. Be sure to set up the e-fan with an automatic thermo switch.

I appreciate the how-to, advice, and pics, guys. Thanks.

Underdrive pulley was one of the options I went for on my motor build years ago. The hype of "at high RPM's your water pump cavitates to create air bubbles",etc. sounded logical, so I went for it along with the "water wettener" (sp?) radiator additive. Guess I'll just raise my idle to be safe !

Damn. I missed that Black Magic 150 at the last minute on ebay. Went for $100, but I wasn't on line at the time to raise a bit.

What other fans fit ? I remember a thread where somebody had a model 160 or something. Will that work? What about other brands, etc ? This is something I want to do.

If the 150 is THE ONE, then I guess Summit or Jegs will have to do (at full price).

The Fiero's with the heavy duty cooling option are great fans. I've seen guys using the Taurus also. I know there are more.....

Napa sells the black magic online for $219.00 or $209.00 complete as a kit with thermostat depending if you want a puller or a pusher. If you have a AAA towing Card there is a discount also. From checking summit's prices this is cheaper and if you order thru the store there is no shipping usually.
