To dye or not to dye...
So I want to get rid of my bloody period colored interior. My headliner is in absolutely perfect like brand new condition... But, it's red.
I would like to either bleach it and dye it grey, or just dye it black. I had considered just getting new fabric and changing it out, but with the sunroof and all the contours, I think it would be better to just dye it.
What dyes have you all used with some success? Is there a special process I need to know about? If no one has done it, I will take pics and post a how-to of the process.
Thanks in advance.

I would like to know about this also. The headliner in my '82 is crap so I kept the one out of the '84 parts car that I had. The headliner out of the '84 is litterally in mint condition, but its red and the interior of my '82 is black.
I would recommend taking the old material off of the pressboard backing and installing new material. From the Eastwood site (www.eastwoodco.com):

I am sure you could also call them and discuss it with them. They have been very helpful to me, and seem to know what they are talking about.

I pulled the headline, gave it a good scrubbing with some laundry detergents, and then used a spray can fabric dye. Original colours was brown, changed it to black. It looks much better than the brown, and hasnt really faded or anything as of yet.
