Drum break : Relining
Today at the office a new lawyer came in . He is a huge car guy just like me and we were bonding over cars . He mentioned his friend owned a RX7 FB back when they had just come out but sold it in the mid 90's. He asked me if I had issues obtaining parts and I casually mentioned that the biggest head ache for most 7 owners is the brakes , particularly the Drums for the 79-81 model years . He told me he had many drums relined for his cars over the years when he couldn't find drums .He told me he had recently had his continental drums re aligned by this company https://www.jgrelining.com/. 500$ for four drums , seems pricy but considering a set of drums can easily do 100k miles it seems worth it.
Any opinions ?

Interesting, I've heard of that being done but have never looked into it. I actually just had my drums off yesterday to check on things and they are definitely in need of replacement. Supposedly Mazda USA has a shipment of 1980 drums due in November, or at least that's what the dealer told me, so I've been counting on that.
I did also take the opportunity to compare the 1980 drums to FB drums and they are indeed a bit different. Same size and general dimensions but the dust shield groove moves a little. Had hoped the later drums might interchange but it looks like they wouldn't do so correctly.
Anywho, I'd be curious to hear if anyone has had theirs relined as well. Sounds like a viable option at the least. Rather sad that it's so tough to find brake parts.
