Just curious . . .

If this has been asked before I humbly apologize. Who still has an FB that they purchased brand new? I have an 82 GSL I purchased new, and still love it. It just got me to wondering how many others still had them since day one.

I don't have an FB that I bought new, but I DO have an SA I bought new. I was 6th on the original waiting list and bought the 2nd one they sold at my local Mazda dealer.

There are a few on the forums that have owned one since new. My car has changed hands 6 times, far from the original owner. Been registered in 4 different cities and was owned by a tow truck company at one point. The original owner had it for 10 years I think, then the next owner 6 years, he gave it to his son I think, then it went to a tow truck company, then from there its just drifted around a little, probably just people who didn't know how to work on it. IMO, the 1st gen rx-7 is essentially the first miata. Its just as nimble, could get around quite well on very little power, and overall just has a sporty feeling.

It is mostly stock right now. I did add a sub, and a CD changer, but kept all of the original radio components intact and working. The main reasons I kept the car (besides being so damn fun to drive) are that it is the first "new" car I ever bought, and the interior is so perfect, I just had to get it spruced up. So now it is at a body shop getting a complete paint job. I have some new Konig rims with tires to put on when I get it back. I had the original X wheels bead blasted, and was going to paint them, but then I saw another member's car (same color) with the Konig's and really liked the look.

Yup . . . still have all the original paperwork including the window sticker, and the service manual I bought for it at the time. I plan on posting pics when I get it back from the painter. The paint job is going to cost a little over five grand so I sure hope it's primo! I purchased new door gaskets, hatch seal, and logos for them to put on.

Damn, props. It's a shame how much the resale has gone down. Hold on to it....
