Sorry, but I've been out of the country for a while.

I have more radical plans for the future which later on includ either a supercharger or 347 stroker. Felix, the muffler on it now is by Flo-Pro, I wanted Dynomax "Ultra-Flo" but the guy said they are crap since they were bought out. This muffler makes it sound like an old-school muscle car. Everybody looks around for the source of the sound when i drive by, its great! The exhaust system is 2.5 inch off the headers into a Y-pipe which is 3 inches all the way back.

Why not just a 427 stroker out of a 351 Windsor block?

If weight is a concern, why go V-8?

seems an either/or to me. Though I admit the rumble of a V-8 can be a pleasant siren song

Why does everyone start this **** about weight?

As you can see theres not a lot of difference...

Anyone ever hear of Alum. Heads? Anyone ever hear of a wedge here and a wedge there? Weight reduction here and weight reduction there... Any car can be balanced and balacing a car isnt always how much weight you can take outta it, sometimes theres a slight bit of weight that needs to be added in certain places... With the aid of a digital scale that is

All I know is the 351W that was in my F100 was a lot heavier than the 302 that came out of it

Keep in mind that 302 weight also includes what must be the world's heaviest small-block intake manifold (that thing HAS to weigh 50-60lb) as well as all accessories. Scrape off the P/S pump, A/C compressor (also very heavy), air pump, cast iron manifolds, etc and you end up with something that weighs the same or less than a stock 12A.

I love rotaries bit I think a built v8 in a first gen would just sick.

Think of how fast and powerfull that would be.

Check out the darius vidoes on 3rotor.com

In the videos section there under speed kings on the second page.

In the first video it shows the car(******* coolest thing ever) going 60 and then just smoking its tires like it was nothin.

In the second video it is racing a yamaha R1 and is winning the whole race.

check it out!!!

Someone make some badges to replace the Rx-7 ones that say "Bx-7"

Then someone who's done the conversion can put them on their car.

Ya it spins the tires in 4th gear if i want. Thats nuts. Some people take the rotary too seriously, some guy came to look at my car today, saw it had a 302 then told me to **** off.

Why was he looking at your car?

I've got no problem with it, but my personal preference is to keep a rotary engine in my 7.

But it'd be cool to have all the power of a V8 like that...

I was at a local "hangout".
To hear a car that sounds similar but not quite as loud go to www.mustangexhaust.com go to the sound room and under the 5.0 section (right side of screen) go to Magnaflow.

What Kind of rear end are you using? Can the stock Diff handle that power?

As long as I don't mount slicks, it'll be fine. Its the stock one. A guy I have talked to got about 15 passes with slicks and his stock rear with a built 350.

There's a guy in my local RX-7 club with a Ford V-8 & automatic tranny... it doesn't seem appreciably faster then the rotary GSL-SEs around, and it corners like a milk truck.
Given that every customized car is different I hope this is unique to his frankensteined RX

Winnepeg, I addressed that problem on mine with a high flow OE (BMW) fan, mounted on a sealed bulkhead on the front of the core support. I found that it moves more air without the mechanical fan, my guess is turbulence under the hood. If you do try mechanical, consider making a fiberglass shroud.

Thanks for the info. I had a bad night the other day, punched it in 2nd and the belt popped off(didnt break). Coolant started dumping everywhere while searching for a parking lot, but it didnt get too hot thankfully.

Oh ya, Kerry what temp does your car run at? Mines at 50 degress celsius usually, but has gone as high as 85.

Mine runs 195~200°F unless I get stuck in traffic for more than about 20 minutes (basicly parked) with the AC on. Then it climbs to 205~210°F or so.
Ain't it fun having a real hot-rod?
