drive shaft rubbing
I was just cruising and then this grinding rubbing sound happened.
Went home jacked up the rear wheels. ran it in gear .... nothing.
went in 1st and reverse. nothing. then it started again.. the rubbing sound. I think its the drive shaft against some of the heat shield tin. Real hard to tell with out a car lift.
Any ideas what else it could be? I did not hit a bump or run over anything.
I have tranny oil and diff oil. its 83 rx

After checking everything that was ok. I rolled up on ramps and found this tranny mounting bracket off. I lost the bolt but drove to the scene and found these mystery mounting parts. Do I have them all. My haynes book does not show anything,
Amy I missing anything except for the bolt? Sc

It's not a bolt; it's a double-sided stud with a spacer in it:
You look to be missing the stud, the bottom plate, and the lockwasher and nut.
I'm betting it fell out with the nut and lockwasher still on it; the times I've pulled mine, it unscrewed from the body rather than the nut coming off the stud.
Stud is part # 1013-39-382A. Two on the car; the other side is the same way.
You could maybe fake it with a long bolt and a proper-sized sleeve, but that's a high-torque point. Better off to find the right bit.
