I have an 85se and I am hearing a rubbing or clicking sound when ever the car is moving. After jacking the car up and turn the rear wheel I hear a rubbing sound near the front u joint. So that's where I plan to start. I checked with some parts places and they only have rear u joints available , no front. Mazda says that they can't get the u joint separate they replace the entire drive shaft. That made me think that I should be looking to replace the whole thing. Any thought or suggestions on this?

 

You have to replace the whole driveshaft.

 

Check first to make sure that it isn't just the sheetmetal seal protector rubbing. They can get bent.
