Um...haha. ou've got to be kidding me turbo2guy. This definetly is not an "easi(er)est way to introduce yourself to drifting. Please tell me what school is saying this so I can have it shut down for endangering the lives of amature drivers.

Entering a turn at to high a rate of speed would be the worst thing to tell someone who's just learning. You would want to get that person used to using his e-brake and memorizing the feeling of it stoping the rear wheels completly after 2 or 3 clicks. For the technique I quoted earlier in this post the "said" drifter would have to have exceptional skills in throttle to clutch conroll.

Junia gave he concept of drift, he's right figure 8's 360's exact 180's. You should'nt try that drift, power over, shift lock, or fient drifting.

And Brakes are not a big part ofall drifts i.e. the one I have quoted above called
clutch kick.Do you really think that one I have described(that uses no brake) would be best for someone who's "starting to learn the concept"

"apexing a turn with minimum traction"<------and that... that's just special.

I agree with what PureSephiroth had to say... Either way the method of drifting described by Rousuke91t sounds more like the stuff he's seen on t.v. or in anime cartoons. I actually drift out here in L.A. buddy. I take it to Azusa, angeles crest, and mulholland drive. The way to drift is get your car sideways approaching the turn, if you kick your car's rear out in the middle, or apex, of a turn your just slowing down and losing control late in a turn. We in the u.s. have turned drifiting in to anything that looks like fun and makes you loose traction. It's supposed to help you enter and exit a turn as quickly as possible with as much exiting speed as possible. I don't see how breaking traction midway thruogh a turn can help you do that.

Sounds to me like Rousuke91t needs to go rent "the drift bible" and take notes not make his own notes.
Besides I don't know why he's trying to turn this thread into an argument, I thought we were just talking about drifting....I guess some people just have social issues....huh...

Arguing???...Arguing??? First of all Turbo2guy I agreed with you in my last post.
Rent the drift bible??? Why would I do that when I have a copy here signed by Seigo Yamamoto. The technique I quoted two posts ago isn't something I've seen on t.v. it was taught to me by Dave Fors

I did what anybody does who's serious aboout learning a skill does. I went to a
school that specializes in it.I was trying to be insightful to the guy who started this
thead. If you check you can see that everyone who responded to him gave a smart @$$ comment instead of defining it for him, then I was attacked.

driftsession.com<---- feel free to e-mail my teachers and tell them they don't know what their taking about.

Before now, I'd actually never heard of that style of drifting where you dump the clutch.

I'm a drift 'noOb' though

I'm very fond of brake drifting and the other kind. I don't know the term, but it's where you drive the car hard AWAY from the direction you want to drift, and whip the steering wheel in the correct direction to break the traction.

Basically, as said before, drifting = fun. Drifting for show =

Too bad most of you guys don't understand japanese because I've watched subtitled versions of various videos(including the drift bible), and they really don't translate that well. Its like they translate each individual word but not exactly what the people in those videos are actually saying.

I happen to speak a little Japanese. heheh.. A lot of those vids (or used to be anyways)are what I like to call "hong kong rips", that is, subtitled in either cantonese and/or english. My DVD copy of the Shutokousoku Battle/Trial series has cantonese and english subtitles. And it says on the back "not for sale outside hong kong or macau" lol... They haven`t always been know to do a good job but the Trial series subs are good.
Actually, right now I am working on translating\subtitling a Carboy drift video that Koguchi Yoshinori did about 6 years ago, but I don`t know if I will release it on the Internet.
I must say, though, it`s one of the best I seen. He does some very cool straightaway-drifts into the first corner at a course in Ebisu and it shows all the incar stuff. It`s really cool. I suppose I could rip that particuar section if you guys are interested...
Also, for those inerested, the drift bible is a rerelease of bestmotoring video special vol36, and is not called the drift bible here, and I don`t believe it has been rereleased. Actually, I don`t even like that name anyway.
I own the predecessors to the "drift bible" and I got to say the drift bible is probably the
most comprehensive in terms of drift techniques, (and just so happens to be in english.)
Another one I got from around 1991 has him teaching drifting in a FC efini, et al. It`s kinda funny he pegs the tach constantly and you can hear the rev buzzer a lot. B)

I remember that video. I bought it when it first came out. I also have a video called Dorifuto Jissen Technique where Tsuchiya teaches drifting (no e-brake or clutch kicking in this one).

first of all I would like to say I'm impressed, most of the time retards with 2 fast 2 furious images in their head invade these drifting threads and says stupid stuff. I would also like to say that I've been with drifting since barely anyone knew about it, and since I've seen the change I can agree that many cars are just S15 with stickers and a big wing nowadays. But the ametures are were the fun is at, you cna't go and watch pros you have to go and live the trials and defeats of drifting yourself. Only after you've done somethong new behind the wheel of your driftmobile will you get the euphoric feeling that all the crak in mexico could match. That is whay I have and always will love drifting. What every one should do is start goofing around with drifting in your spare time, I myself have converted a AWD 1/4 mile guy into a RWD can't keep the whell straight for a 1/8 of a mile guy. we now have the 2nd drift team in our town and we go around having fun trying to keep the ACTIVITY, fun and with the average joe. Think that over.

ACTIVITY????!?!

O.k. than I guess football and soccer are ACTIVITIES as well.
Most activities are not funded by Pennzoil and Castrol
I know you love it, I do to. I say the least people should do is to toy around
with drifting then join a team . Alot of the fun is meeting different people who
drift. I just joined a team (MIDKNIGHTS) two months ago and its improved not only my drifting but my knowledge of the car as well.

After you accept the fact your gonna crash(probably not going fast) and your
gonna blow engines you'll appreciate the extra pair of hands .(if you do your own work taht is)
