Drifting!
Well last night I was abruptly thrown into the underground sport of drifting. After hearing about it from a fellow co-worker who owns a 90' civic for a couple weeks and how fun it is, I decided to go out with him to the "spot" where the craziness takes place. I must say it was alot of fun, and I got plenty of attention being the only rear-drive car out there. All the Honda boys thought that it was so amazing that I could throw the ***-end of my car out without even touching the E-brake, go figure! Anyway, pretty fun stuff! any of you all participate in this insanity?

Well acording to the pro's in japan (and originators of the actual sport sort of say) that ONLY rear wheel drive cars can compete in the drift comp. When you see fwd cars do it you're like " eh... " but rip and 7 around like that without alot if any e brake and its so much better.

According to god, err Keiichi Tsuchiya front wheel drive "drifting" is not true drifting as drifting is defined as the controled slide around one or more corners by controling the spin of the rear wheels. So using a civic and dragging its *** around with the ebrake is just that, dragging its *** around. FB's drift damn good if there set up right, I'd like to drive a AE86 to see if its really as good as everyone says. I bet it is.

I used to be in the drift scene with club4ag and then once my corollie was sold (to buy my FB), i really didn't feel like drifting around my black beast (the rex).
By definition, only RWD can drift. To know exactly the science of drifting gohere.
Don't even get the Toyota guys started on the oxymoron of FWD drifting...

E-brake driftn in the Cibic is mad tyite yo!!
I love drifting, but with a open diff and 100hp, I found that the only way to drift was to throw the car into the turn.
Turning the car the opposite way right before the turn like on a bike, and then popping the clutch in and out to get the car to rotate.
the tII swap and a gsl diff should make for some fun this summer. I could just power over through the whole turn in third gear.

My last car was a prelude with 4 wheel steering.. I guess this still doesn't count as drifting, but I was able to get the back *** to swing out and slide around corners without the aid of an ebrake. Just turn into the corner, then quickly crank the wheel in the direction you are turning, and the back tires would turn far enuff to allow the backend to start to slip. It was fun, and you didn't need to work the gas or ebrake.

ive been into it for awhile, but rarely get to do it. fwd drifting is a joke, but there are some people who can pull it off. go to www.usdrift.com, they have an article about a guy who is apparently insane in his civic. i just dont like it because with fwd you cant hold insanely long drifts, much less your not as much in control as you cant really mess with the throttle in the drift, just my opinion though.

I know that FWD sliding around is not as cool as RWD or AWD but they still do it and they make it look good sometimes. I've seen many of them in Option's ikaten drift events and Tsuchiya Keiichi himself drifted a CRX and made it look like it was a RWD car.
