I am in the process of doing of changing my automatic 85 gs to a manual. I have allmost all the parts I need, I have the driveline, the tranny, the clutch, the flywheel, and the starter motor.

I still need all the interior parts and the hydrolics, pedals, etc.

How much would it cost to get all these things from a junkyard or somthing? I posted a WTB thread in the parts forum, and someone offered $125 including shipping. This price seems a little stiff to me so I'm curious how much it would roughly cost to get the parts from a junkyard. Any ballpark answer will do. Thanks!

 

did automatics come with tachometers?

 

yes they all have tachomiters

 

i think i have all the parts what all interior wise do you need. I can get the pedal, have a good master, and a slave. i have an 85 gs i could get most of the interior parts from.

I bought an RX4 pedal set at one of the local junkyards for $10 when I swapped my RX4 from automatic to manual transmission. There was already a covered-up hole in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder, and I used a slightly modified metal line from a 1st Gen RX7 to complete the setup. The hardest part was figuring out where the connector was for the switch that prevents the starter from getting power unless the automatic transmission is in neutral. That has to be jumpered when switching to a manual transmission. I would think a set of 1st gen pedals could be had at a junkyard, at least in this area, for $20 or less. A clutch master cylinder is probably $15-$20. You'll need the interior piece that has the shift boot attached, and those are harder to find in good condition, but those are probably no more than $10 at the most. If you haven't been to the junkyards in your area, you really ought to go sometime, there's so much to learn about the differences between years, how things are put together, etc. Sometimes I'll go to the u-pull yard and start dismantling a car just to see how everything comes apart. Ahhhhh... Good times...

 

Hornbm, whomever sends you the parts, make sure they include these

• the correct cross member from the donor manual car, there is a difference...
• the extra long bolt that the clutch pedal hangs off of, again this is also different from the bolt found in an auto trans car
• the spring associated with the clutch pedal

well the wireing shouldnt be too much of a problem as right now my car has been allmost completely gutted (no engine, tranny or driveline)because I'm working on my '89 13b swap. So I'm changing the wireing harness anyway (the fun part) so I probably wont even run into the automatic starting saftey lockguards.

SO correct me if I'm wrong, I will need:
The interior parts,
The master and slave cylinder, and hydrolic lines,
The shifter parts,
The pedal components (including the spring and long bolt),
and the crossmember.

Is this every thing?
