Does one of the numbers in a 1st get VIN tell you 12A or 13B?
and it's only '84-85.
Japanese market cars had 12ATs as vin "2". don't take my word too closely on that
Mazda traditionally have the engine VIN by which came first. just like in a 2nd-gen, a 1 is a N/A and a 2 is a turbo.

our US cars are stamped with the vin into the firewall, and then have the screwed on VIN tag, and then there is either a sticker or riveted tag in the drivers door jamb, and one in the windshield.
in the US the VIN is the vin, so the same number is stamped everywhere, its not like say my Tr3 that has a body number and a commission number that are different.
so like my 82, is JM1FB3315C061627, and that number is stamped on the firewall, vin plate, and door jamb (the windshield tag is long gone)
