does anyone use wheel studs?

i had though about converting to wheel studs so i could use lug nuts rather than lug bolts, but i wasnt sure it itd actually be worth it. heck i even bought some wheels for the conversion but now i dont want or need them.

i have the stud, I like them, but sometimes they do come out with the lug nuts, so you just have to be a bit more careful with them. but overall, i think they are worth it.

Wheel studs really help when putting the wheel on. Just slide it onto the studs instead of holding in place and desparately threading a wheel bolt in.

Slather the studs with red loctite before threading them in. Then they won't come out. Ask me how I know

A little bit of heat and the red loctite will let go. I put Black on the last set I did. Should not have done that, took 2 hours to remove them.

None have come out after I put red all over the threads that thread into the hub, and this is for my track car, hub gets real hot.

When I only used 4 drops, some did back out.

Contact http://www.sevensonly.com/ for competetive pricing, that's where I get mine from. Cost less then anywhere else I looked + u get to support a rotor friendly shop

Wheel studs are a good idea, period. I'd like to get some hardened studs grade 10 or up. with larger wheels the thought of just 4 lug/bolts and each just maybe 2-3 threads into the hub , i don't like.

it's actually got like 5-6 threads inthe hub if memory serves, the rotor is only so thick and it's going to be exactly the same as using the stock lug bolts. i wouldn't worry about getting grade 10 onces (which i'm not sure are even available)

AWS140 I've got the same rims with the old mazda M center cap... I just have to clean them up and then they will be up for sale. Nice rims but I'm in the process of doing an FC subframe swap on the front end of my SE and having the rear end drilled to match the 5 lug front. Then of course I will be running studs...

Funny how I stumbled on this subject today... I have been thinking about converting to studs. If it works on your track car then I'm game! My car gets occasional track use as well. I just dont feel comfortable with the stock set up. As long as they are a high quality and high grade and will pass tech at the track I'm happy!

I know what you are saying about hubs getting hot, last year at a tight track my Cobra's brakes started shooting flames... Looked cool from the paddock I'm told... But not from my point of view in the car bearing down on a corner!

Thanks for the info, I'll be checking them out!

My lug bolts work very well, it's easy to line them up once you learn the trick and they don't get stuck in the rotors.
