do people say dumb things about your first gen?

hello all

just looking thru some posts and wondering if people have ever said something odd ,off the wall, or just plain crazy about your first gen ? . I have owned these cars since '87, so I have experienced a few...

once when I went to the auto store ,several years ago, to order spark plugs for my se. The guy at the counter said I needed 5. I said, no, it has 4. and he goes on and on about how my car has " one more at the bottom" . haha

wondering if anyone out there might have a few storys ?

thanks all
mack

I went to napa with my SE and some guy inside said his friends in California had rotary engines with six rotors in their cars????

If he would've said 4 rotors i would've been amazed. Till this day Im still blown away by a 6 rotor car.

Yeah, people call it a "Rex" when Rex is a fawkin' Subaru and other people call it a "RX" when an RX is a divverent fawkin Subaru and other people call it a Seven when a Seven is a fawkin Lotus.

It is a Mazda. R. X. 7.

And enough people have asked me how much boost I am running to throatpunch turbo people, Civic people, or Supra people on contact.

I've been asked if mine was the 1.3 or the 1.8 turbo...
Not being a smartass I said it was a naturally aspirated 13b. He then says he wants one soooo bad and told his girlfriend that the first thing he'd do is turbo it... didn't talk to the guy much after that

this is great Im surprised at many of these posts already... the 6 rotor one ..haha and yeah i do wonder why people call our cars rex, seven etc, its like they want to avoid calling it what the emblem clearly says of the side. rx-7

I had a neighbor a few years ago, he must have been 85, a real old timer, I respected him, he was a smart no nonsense person. On a rare occasion whn I backed my rx-7 into the driveway, he came over all excited and goes.." thats not a car, thats the ultimate woman getting machine." funny.

a lot of people have called my cars "a hummer" also.

I have some storys. I was at a car show with my school. I went to look at some carb parts. And I ask them if they have anything for a 83 rx7. And the one guy said that he drove lots and said they are really fast and lots of fun. He said you dont need any mods and they dont have carbs they all are fuel ingeted.(cant spell that sorry) At my school i am the kid with the rx7 and there are alot of kids saying they suck but I know they are gust wishing they had one.

I admit people say some weird things about the RX-7 engine. Lets not punch their ego with ours, lets educate them instead. Heck, if people ask our cars so much lets carry a little booklet in the glove box. Like a salesmen but just for educating purposes.

Who knows, alot of people may be like us but hav'nt had the door open up on them. I know I never knew about a RX-7 untill my dad brought two home. That was the first day of the rest of my life. I would've never known about the RX-7 if it was not for that.

I simply hate how anytime I tell someone what car I have, and they want to feel smart, they say "Your going to go thru apex seals" just to prove the point that they know what an apex seal is.

When I had my -SE (the only rotary powered Rx-7 I've had) people would say "so it's a four cylinder?" and I would just say "ya, ya it's a four cylinder" and close my hood. I guess I'm an *** sometimes, but it gets old drawing diagrams every time someone wants to know how your engine works. Maybe I should have laminated one of them.
