do i have low compression?
i was driving uphill on a freeway entrance all the way through 3rd gear redline, then all of a sudden... the car begins to idle very poorly. way below 500 rpm's, and the rpm needle just bobs up and down and won't hold a steady RPM.
did i just lose compression? (busted apex seal(s))?
this is on a stock 139k GSL-SE motor btw. which i had no problems whatsoever before.
also, where can i buy a reliable/trusty compression tester?
thanks in advance

Did you blow your engine noob?
Luckily for you, it is probably just a vacuum leak. Grab your can of carb cleaner, and let the hunting begin!
Oh, and to be sure, did you do a ghetto compression test?

I thought I had a vacuum leak but it was a bad ignitor too. I corrected the ignition and then used some propane to check for any leaks around the manifold and carb. The idle did change a little, but I never determined where the leak was. Then I swapped the manifold and carb onto another engine and it ran fine. Weird.
The manifold is off again and I think I finally found where the vacuum leak was. It turned out to be a vacuum cap that has little cracks around it. Cheap rubber.

I know, I found one of those in the manifold too. The rubber cap just kinda melted I guess from the headers' heat - it was the cap of the line going to the AAV, so it's close to the headers.
