You shouldn't have to retime after DLIDFIS. Something is wrong.

Have your mechanic unplug the vacuum advance from the two things on the dizzy before he checks timing. At idle (750? 800?), it should be right on the mark.

Messy yes but not done. Ill make it look better once I get it running properly.
LOL the 2nd leading coil (MSD) isnt even bolted down, just zip tied it and called it good.

I used 2nd gen spark plug wires so i location would not be a problem.

I am going to go back and use shrink tube. I dont mind, i have a lot of electrical material.

this is just a close up of the trailing coil and the unused leading coil. The wire on the leading coil is only used for ignition (I think).
I dunno if you can see but each coil has a positive wire attached to it. This is what im talking about being my problem. The leadinc oil has a constant 12v source and this is why my car would stay on when i turned the key off and took the key out.

So i tried disconnecting this wire from the pos side of the old leading coil and now my car shuts off. What I need to check is if a smaller wire was part of the same connect as the one i disconnected.

I just got a hold of a nice camera so more pic's to come.

Why do you have a wire from both old coils going to the 12 V relay?

Because you said, you used the + terminal of the old leading coil to use for your switch... so i connected it.

the old trailing coil (left) is still my trailing coil so it has a power from relay and 2 wires going to HEI igniters.

thats the part I was trying to ask you, what did u have hooked up to your old leading coil?

I didn't touch the old trailing coil.

I took the coil wire from the old leading coil to the distributor cap off and taped over the hole in the coil with electrical tape.

I pulled a 12 V ignition source from the old leading coil to the 12 V relay.

Everything else for leading ignition was new.

Wire from battery + terminal to 30 amp fuse.

Wire from fuse to input side of 12 V relay.

Wire from output side of 12 V relay to new leading ignition as per Jeff20B's diagram.

Wire from 12 V relay to ground.

Rest of leading new ignition install as per Jeff20B's diagram.

Thats exactly how i have it setup? the 12v ignition source is the wire you see going into leading coil?
