I've been thinking about your exhaust problem. What about going single, and then turning it under the car to dump out the left side of the car just before the wheel in a L type shape? Should give you enough room to fit all the business to keep it quieter.
Another more crazy possibility would be to bring it up and over, then dump straight down in the stock location. It's hard to tell the angle you'd need from pictures, it might be to severe to be worth it. Not to mention a tricky mounting and shielding challenge.

I'm thinking I have no choice but to dump the exhaust in front of the rear wheel. I wonder how many mufflers I can fit in that short amount of space?

Dynomax's Thrush Turbo Mufflers are 16 inches tip to tip, and only 25$. But I would suggest using as many different types of mufflers as you can to cut out different resonances. Then there's always tip silencers, they are good for 7db. And if you really want to get down to business, you can get a header collector insert from Car Chemistry.
If it's one thing civic ricers have given us, it's how to make a ridiculous exhaust systems meet noise restrictions.

whoa.. spam?

hope you can get a good exhaust system on it. is that pretty much the same engine as the one in 13B-RX3's rx3?

looks like it will be too loud. definitely want to see a video of it running

The motor will pop on the first dyno pull that Steve does. I actually hope I don't jinx you though. Looking good though, send me a PM as soon as you get it all done and running, I would like to swing by and see it.

Right on, I hope to get alot of the small stuff done this weekend. Then, hopefully I can work on getting the driveshaft made next weekend and get the battery hooked up. I could be forgetting something but I'm pretty darn close.

I'm just going to worry about getting it ready to tune right now, and make the tubs a last priority. A few little rocks can't hurt that bad, right?

And.. I've come to the conclusion that a rear exit exhaust just isn't going to work.

I think just getting it completed for a tune is the best option right now. Especially if it's going to be held the first weekend of June. That's only....damned, 7 weeks away.....or so, my math is horrible right now. lol

Even if you don't get the tubs done before then, you can still trailer it over if you are that worried about getting knocked out from some random item on the shitty highways we have around here.

lol funny, hope that "junkyard motor" last at least a year. that's how long my friends' did. then it became a lawn mower. anyway, hope it turns out well.

I still would like to see a video of it. if a picture says a thousand words, a video says a million.

hoping you break 150 hp at the front wheels :P

Looking real good there Eric. What diameter exhaust are you planning on running? It sounds like you would prefer a rear exit. If that was the plan, is the concern ground clearance in back, or basically just "getting through" the rear suspension/diff area with the pipe routing? If the routing is the issue, my exhaust guy assures me there is always more room than you think His name is Harold at Furo Racecraft. I have some pics of a three inch exhaust he did up for an Ariel Atom that is local to me, after Ariel said it couldn't be done. Here is a link to his website's exhaust page. Some of the pics are good food for thought.

http://www.furoracing.com/exhaust.html

I especially like how he sneaked this 4.5 inch system in on the Duster:

Take a look at my pictures, there is no way to get a exhaust past the rearend, no room at all back there

Got everything finished up today, filled her up with royal purple, topped it off with e85 and fired it up....... no exhaust is too loud on this thing

Just need a driveshaft..... then it's time to take it for a spin

I'll probably have someone local make it. I had to have one made for my old FD, and they charged around $220 to do it.

I'd be worried about the rocks shattering your hatch glass. Looking good, just hope you don't puke oil or water out of your side exit exhaust, that wouldn't be pretty...
