Distributor replacement?

Ok. I’m putting in a new distributor in my 83 GSL. I took out the one bolt with the little “9” on it that holds the plate to the front iron. Now how the hell do I get it out? I’m looking at the Haynes manual (although it’s for an SA my neighbors wife had one) and it says you just do that and pull... am i just not pulling hard enough or is there more to it? (Yes everything is unplugged)

Before taking it out, make sure it's set to TDC wih the pin on the front cover and mark/groove in the pulley . Once the little bolt is out, just use a twisting motion and pull up.

Are you able to rotate distributor with bolt out? Work it back and forth while pulling up on distributor body. The sealing "o" ring can get hardened and stuck to machined hole distributor slots into. Spriitz a little carb cleaner around base of distributor while working back and forth and lifting.Patience...You lined up engine to TDC so you know where to install replacement distributor?
