Disconnect OMP?

Hey my mechanical OMP is linked to the throttle. I'm currently running premix since I don't trust the leaky OMP and I was wondering if I could just disengage the cable from the OMP to the throttle and have no ill effects. The less oil the OMP pumps the better in my case. What do you guys think?

Yep. I just broke one of the brittle OMP lines while I was wrenching on my car, so I disconnected my rod and started paying more attention to the amount I'm premixing. Something of note...even with the rod disconnected the OMP is still going to meter out some oil, don't ask.

I think it would work OK, just remember you will still inject some engine oil--adjust your premix accordingly.

Alright. Say I disconnected the OMP rod and somehow plugged the lines to the carb, would that help? Would the damn thing get backed up and leak more?

Correct me if I'm wrong experts (for I dont' run premix) but you basically put a bottle of 2-stroke oil with each full tank.

Does anyone have a working OMP that they're not using/willing to sell? I'm gonna need one at some point because I really don't think mine's working to spec... it's leaking like a bugger.

I believe mine is leaking too because there's some oil all over the place down in that area. Anybody know what's involved when removing it and how to fabricate a block off plate for it? I usually premix with 16 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil per full tank.

I premix 10oz / fillup.

The OMP is really easy to rebuild. Just call Mike (941)-924-8597 at Lowe Performance Products. He'll sell ya all the parts plus printed instructions on how to rebuild it. It cost me all of about 10 bucks or something like that.

Dont take my word on this, but to remove the OMP you cant just take it off and block it because there is a gear that runs it behind the front cover so I think you have to take off the front cover and take that gear out before you can block it off......Some body tell me if Im wrong

Yep, you're wrong. You can block it off without any problems.

Yea..... best to not turn your car into a prolong commercial..... and after driving for 6hrs strait with no oil and its still running (with an uncalculable amount of damage).

Either leave the OMP running, or premix.
