differential problem - advice

Hi everyone.

I am spinning a 1984 rx7, however my mate hit the cirb about a month a go and the right axle is bended.

The diff body probobly is also bended and prob. the rest of the bits in it are fucked as well so I am thinking, best thing to do is change the hole diff.

I have an option to pick up a very cheap 2nd gen car and was thinking would the diff from it fit my 1st gen.

If it does what are the advantages or disadvantages over that.

Thank you all in advance.

I would bet you bent a wheel.

(Where did the term "rim" come from?_ Its a wheel right??).... Can someone show me a wheel... and a rim? Is there a difference I am missing?!

come to think of it, rim is a street slang word for aftermarket wheels, especially Daytons, and such.

Ive always thought of the rim as just the steel part. A wheel to me is the tire and rim, thats just me tho.

Well..by definition..Rim means...
The usually curved or circular border or edge of an object. See Synonyms at border.
The circular outer part of a wheel, furthest from the axle. - Does this mean your only running on the outer part of your wheel!!??

I am sorry... I am just being a dick.. however I would like for some people to realize that... "street slang"...sometimes make you look kinda stupid to those of us who have been around cars and worked on them forever.
Also I am a little bitter... I have a friend who is in ICU for "street racing"- The whole idea is stupid to me... Why race on the street...what is the point...
SCCA (along with many other orginizations) allows you a place to go as fast as you want...and if you do get an accident...help is no more than 3 minutes away....A doctors help is no more than 3 minutes away. Sometimes a corner worker is there instantly....

many times, street slang usually originates from ignorant people who doesn't know the exact terms, nor knows the function of the item, especially in the automotive world. Also in language, it is the same thing, especially when it comes to spelling and pronounciation, yet the kiddies find it sounding "cool".

Sorry to hear about your friend in ICU.

Also, sorry for the sudden change in subject.

As for the axle problem, it's a lot easier to just find a replacement and install it as a whole.

Why assume all people are street racers? Or white euro, wasn't this about a ben't rear end? And i'm happy for you all that have a track or strip to let loose on i envy you , come down to aus where we don't have **** within 2500 km.
Try to get a second hand pav kata from a wrecking yard or importer, i looked on line and it was under 200 euro for a lsd rear end rotor to rotor.
Ignorance is blis when you are surrounded by bitter old farts

Actually the word "rim" is in common usage for a tireless automobile wheel, throughout the rest of the "English" speaking world. It is not slang in the UK, Australia, New Zealand etc.

Thanks a lot all. Sorry have not got any pics but I took the axle off and got it spinned and you can see it is bended. Best solution will be a new rear end. If anyone have info for cheap bits I will be happy to hear from him.

Thanks a lot once again.
