Different octane, idle changes???
Different octane, idle changes???
I usually use the cheap stuff when it come to gas and my car has always idled at 1500rpm and sometimes 2000rpm warming up!!!! I'm using the racingbeat setup. But on friday night I thought I might as well try the medium (86 oct.) this time and as soon as the gas got to the carb it started idling really low. Like 800 rpm low. Then as soon as I would let off the gas it sounded like it wanted to stall and would go down to 400rpm but would then pick up the idle back to 800rpm. I know I've heard people say that 800rpm or so is normal but not for my car!!! lol Why and how is this?!?!?!?! Is it possible that the 7 doesn't like higher octane gas??? Or maybe I got a bad batch of gas????? Or what else is going on????? It doesn't seem to suffer any horse power when your on it. What do ya guys think????? Thanks.

No port, just stock core. We tried to make it idle lower but the flippin thing wont!!!!! It makes me so mad!!!!!!!!! lol Thats exactly what I thought, it should idle higher with higher octane...............
Rotaries love low octane, the lower the better. I believe the racers were running something like 83 octane back in the day. The higher the octane rating, the slower the burn. Rotaries need a fast burn due to the short burn cycle.
