Did i overspend?

Hello I recently purcahsed an 82 rx7. The car is in very good shape with a minor door
well rust spot and some under the hood its self. Never been driven in the winter. It has a minor seat tear. And need new brakes. It comes with an extra carb, brake lines, exhust system, and brake pads, as well as an altinator. It has 94, 000 km. I got it for 1200. I'm curious as to how much this car is really worth...

I would say you got a really good deal, but before I get into too much haste, how well does it run? Is there anything noticably wrong when driving it? I bought my for 1,400 and it has a bit of rust externally, runs great, brakes work great, with a few extras, limited slip in back and the disc brakes in back.

There are 3 1st-gen RX-7s in the paper this week, $4250, $4950, and $7500.

You didn't overspend.

I bought me second 7 eight years ago for 5K...yes 5K. It had 120K on it, everything was stock and original (suspension, muffler etc) was only driven May to Sept. stored in heated garage. It was owned by the car dealer and was kept in the showroom.

What kind of exhaust system does the car have? Got any pics?

I got mine for a trade for a intake manifold for a Civic motor HA! (That's my 84GS) But I paid $500 for my 85 GSL that I bought first that I stole most of the parts off of and put on the GS now the GSL is gone. I never realized when I bought it that the round tube bar in the front of the car was bent till after I had it for a week or so. Hence getting rid of the car altogether. I hate frame damage it just ruins the car.

If you wanna throw up then listen to this my brother in law who might be on this board now got a 85 GSL-SE for 200 bucks. Lucky bitch ***! there is a bit of damage to the body in the rear but nothing that can't be fixed and the brakes work good good tires good paint on rest of the car. Some gremlins in the eletrical that I need to fix for him but it runs pretty good. Only crappy thing to me is that when we picked up the car he said "well I wanted to adjust al those screws and stuff on the top casue it changes the way the car runs" He of course then pointed to all the screws anywhere near the throttle body so we have to go through and readjust everything. what a dork!

$1200 is about right for a mildly rusty car. hate to be a bearer of bad news but its probably worse than you think. have you pulled the rear storage bins to look for rust yet?

Picked up Furious as a non-runner for $775....just needed the dizzy turned 180 degrees and it was a runner with a straight body...if your car is running, which I kinda doubt if it really does have only approx 60,000 miles on it, then that was a good deal, though I have to wonder why brake lines would come with it....that almost screams that the bottom got trashed somehow...

And I assume that's canadain $$$ so that's a great deal for a runner.

I'm about to pick up #5 for about the same... it has no engine. So... you come accross great deals sometimes.

My 7, 84 -SE, was $1000 and was in less the good shape.

My 84 -se was $5200 with 88,000 km. I know a guy in Toronto that just paid over 6500 for an -se in pristine condition.

If it runs good, sounds like you did allright.

$500 for a runner that needed shocks, rotors cut, new pads and a light bulb for inspection.

I paid $1000 for my car. Rust-free GSL-SE barely running carb converted hackjob. I've spent more time cleaning up and fixing all the problems I've been left with than driving the car. I've even went so far as buying a new motor and will be rebuilding it to drop in the FB before long. All in all, I don't feel overly screwed paying $1000 for a good body. Though some have picked up their cars much cheaper, I don't think $1200 is overspending for a running car.
