Dash paint
I have had no luck finding a dash in black for my 81 or 82 gsl so I have to go the ugly route and paint them. What actually sticks to it. I bought some of that Krylon paint that was spose to stick to plastic and I shot one of the armrest a month ago and the paint still isnt dry. The dash being made out of the same close cell foam now has me scared to paint it. What works paint works on it. Also is there anyway to fix my armrest now or am I screwed on that one.
Thanks
Mike

Dupli color rattle job works GREAT. Just be sure to put a light coat on, let it ALMOST fully dry (about ten minutes) then put the next light coat on. Stand NICE and far back from it as you spray.

Yeah multiple light coats has seemed to work really well for me. Also rub that thing down with alcohol a couple times to get it nice and oil/armor all free. There may even be something other than alcohol that may work good also that you could buy. Hopefully its cheap. Alcohol has worked good for me though.

Kewl thanks. I figure what happen with the armrest is that oil bled threw the paint and is keeping it wet
will try the other armrest and if it works Ill try the dash unless anyone has better paint Ideas.
thanks again

I have an S-10 that sits in the sun pretty much all day here in Atlanta. The dash had turned brown (it was grey) from all the exposure. I used duplicolor on it and it did work great. It's been on the dash for 3 YEARS now without issue. I tried it on some other parts and it did not work so well, despite cleaning them like a maniac. Anywhere I touched frequently (ie, armrest), it came off, and more so on hot days when I would be sweating. Does Krylon handle those more frequently used areas better than duplicolor?

I also use the SAME duplicolor for my truck's tailgate (this is primer and black, as well as red.) It's been there almost a year, through multiple washings (hand and machine), still like new.

I have some pics on my website.. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/620047
I have had good luck with Krylon fusion.. Even on heavily used parts.. Just have to let it cure for at least 24 hours before using the part.

Okay don't use Krylon for sure. I spent a couple hundred on interior paints and supplies from Dupont Paints. And I must say that they do a kick *** job I painted my entire interior with it and it looks amazing I tried sctaching it off, it wouldn't chip, peel, or fade and the paints got some type of special ingrediant that makes it flexible as hell. Okay you know that vynal wheel well flap that was just like glued onto the car. I even painted that and when it was dry you could bend it and fold it and the paint was like factory works amazing. I don't remember exactly what its like but any napa dealer will have it. To get it started you want to buy this plastic prep which is poisionus as hell so you'll need some type of respirator and dupont plastic prep for a base coat. If you go to a napa dealer they should be able to mix it up for you. But you don't want the dull stuff you want a semi gloss. Man does it ever look kick ***. As soon as I get everything finished I'll post some pics, which I can now do as I just bought a kicking digital cam corder.
