Thumbs up Jim Susko's 1st gen Suspension setup manual... First impressions.

I just got my book the other day and skimmed through it...

It's very nice. There's a lot of information to digest in there. I'm a very visual learner, so I did appreciate that there were a few diagrams, although not as many as I'd like. But his wording coupled with the diagrams made everything easy to understand. If you follow what he says in regards to how the suspension moves, binds, or otherwise behaves under certain situations and look at the pictures, leafing back and forth, it becames very clear.

I must admit that when someone sells parts, then a book about them, I kinda wonder about the content of the book. I wondered if I was just ordering a catalog, or a paper infomercial, or just a really big, thick brochure... I was pleasently suprised at the wealth of info in the book.

He does promote his products in the book, but also promotes other manufacturers as well. Something completely unexpected.

As for the presentation of the book itself... Well, (No offense to Mr. Susko, if he reads this.) lets just say he needs a publisher, or at the very least to visit Kinkos... The low resolution inkjet printings don't do justice to the diagrams, and the 3 ring binder looks kinda cheezy... Great for updating (Which he supplies if your manual is older.) but not so great for durability.

All in all though, if you are looking for info on the 1st gen suspension, whether you're building a road race or auto cross car, or are like me, just starting out and wondering what you should spend your cash on, this book is where you should start. Not only do you get good info with future updates, but Mr. Susko is available for consultation on your setup as well.

Hey, I just bought this book last week. Should be here soon. Looking forward to reading it.
Talked to Jim on the phone for a bit, seems like a real good guy. The book price includes a "consultation fee", so you get to ask questions after reading.
