The turns are pretty tight for the heater hoses, I was able to get things plumbed using the FC hose kit from HPS (with a few modifications). I tried with some generic straight hose and it kept kinking.

Ive been watching the HPS Fc set on ebay for months, they looked close enough by the pictures, good to know they will work, theyre one of my next orders. I already have silicone rad hoses, but the heater core hoses are ancient. I still need to order the mishimoto thermostat, a koul tool, and a set of real steel braid cutters, my experiences doing the tape wrap angle grinder method havent been great.

The kit comes with 3 hoses and the clamps you need. 1) engine to heater core, 2) heater core to hard pipe, 3) hard pipe to radiator. I used 1 and 3 to get to the heater core, trimmed 2 to the right size and made my own for the pipe to radiator. All told, I needed the kit, a foot of hose, two more clamps, and a joiner. Then I needed two more clamps and some caps to close off the beehive line.

They sure look nicer than the ancient old rubber ones, especially on a beautifully clean engine, wow that is nice. My car has 140k on it, and by the look of the engine, i think its safe to say it probably has 140 on it too. Ive got a spare motor build in the works, with some nice irons i bought from DreaminRotary on ebay. Im only dowel pins and a front cover from having a 2nd keg. The goal is to have one streetported and one stock. Here in California we have smog, so every 2 years ill drop the stockport in just for their benefit, and swap back to streetport after smog check hehe

Another good thing to have is a thick AN wrench. I also use two 1 1/8 wrenches to tighten -10AN fittings.

I got a 1 1/16 that i call bfw that i bought for this exact purpose. A 2nd one would be nice though, i used an adjustable last time to hold. I like the way your cooler and thermostat is mounted in your pic, i may do something like that, i like the mounts too, to absorb shock. I only got 6ft of hose though im not sure if thatll be enough to set it up like that.

My goal as well, the clean motor is the new streetport. I picked up the motor and trans for $200 and had it ported and balanced. I pulled the original motor out (40k matching numbers) with all the accessories and rats nest in tact and set it aside for whatever. I don't have smog, but it was starting to leak from oil pan and other seals due to age so it may need some cleaning up and a quick rebuild if it ever goes back in.

Thats where this motor is at, its tired and old, and starting to leak from the dowel pins and the oil pan gasket. It still runs great, but the plan is very similar clean streetport motor to go in, and im thinking of doing a blowtrhrough turbo setup with the stock nikki on the streetport. A wideband should help me jet the carb for boost, more power but easier and cheaper than ecu tuning.

Good Cooler, Bad Bungs.

I dropped off the CxRacing cooler today at a local radiator shop to be flushed and have the good -10 bungs zapped on. Ive got my mishimoto thermostat, and i got some aluminum to make a mount, when it gets back i can get it mounted up front more like the later 7s. Ill be working on it more this week, itll be back running again soon.

Got a link for this kit? Do they come in black?

And the answer is yes. Heres an amazon link:
Amazon Amazon

I'm not a fan of blue but does look nice and the oil filter pedestal leaking on the silicone won't rot the hoses.

Came with a license plate frame too...that I will not be putting on.

The blue matches the Racing Beat radiator hose kit nicely, just sayin'

2 Down, 2 to go

I got the thermostat hung yesterday, and finally started making lines, lines from the cooler to the thermostat are done, I had to order a few more hose ends, when they get here I can finish making the motor to thermostat lines.

The steel braid hose assembly kit, vise inserts, koul tool, and jegs cutters. Based on my prior experience cutting line with an angle grinder, i highly recommend the tools. Its about $120 for everything, but well worth the ease of use.
