Q about painting a cracked (paints cracked) bumper?? FC TII

i have an stock S5 rear bumper that has some cracked paint and i need to repaint it. i wondered how i would go about prepping this for paint? im assuming the cracked paint needs to be tottaly taken off?? should i sand it or maybe a paint stripper? would a paint striper do something to the bumper??

thanks.

tom

take it down by sanding it, I have never used paint stripper on anything other then wood or a metal surface, so I can't say to use it on a bumper. It would not surprise me if you looked up a local auto paint store that they may carry something to strip it off, so check into that. anyhow take all the paint down so the new paint will lay on a properly preped surface. You can also pick up a flex additive (bulldog, I have used with great results )for the bumper so it will not crack the paint if it is flexed a little. hope that helps. good luck

uhhhh no... not out of a rattle can. that would just not come out right . how about a spray gun. Rattle cans are not for me. go to a paint supply store and ask them for advice, because I can not see your project at hand. what I can tell you is that I would not spray anything out of a rattle can onto a car ..... unless it was flat black then that is different.
