A couple maintance Tips for the Auto trans people
Cleaning Torque Converter (easy)
1: Set the converter on a bench vise
2: Insert a Garden hose into the pilot depression of the converter
3: Put other end of the hose in to a bucket
4: Place an air nozzle in the top of the converter
5: Loosly stuff a rag or piece of plastic around both hoses
6: Apply a small amount of air and it will force out the fluid and dirt
7: Rock the converter back and forth to move the fluid into the pilot well
8: Repeat until all fluid is out of the converter
Flushing Converter While it is in the car
1: Determine which line going to the cooler is the pressure line, and disconect it from the cooler
2: Put the disconected line into a 5 gal. bucket
3: With the engine running and the car in park
4: add fluid to the transmission at the same rate as what is coming out of the line goin into the bucket
5: After about 8 quarts the converter should be fluched
6: Reconnect the line to the cooler
7: Add fluid to fill to proper level
8: start car and check for leaks
**CAUTION** At no point in time during the flushing operation, should the level of the fluid go below 90% full.
Hope this helps some.

Find a shop that does a T-Tech service and have 'em do it.
It actually exchanges the fluid, up to 13 quarts.
We charge $90, IIRC. Money *very* well spent, we have customers with so-called "problem transmissions" (like the Chrysler 4-speeds, or the Ford AXOD) pushing close to 200k on the factory transmission, just regular fluid exchanges about every 40-50K.

I just posted it for people that might want to do it themselves. But your post reminds me that I need to go and have all the fluids in my car flushed and refilled at the dealer in my truck.
