http://www.mazdatrix.com/b5.htm

Scroll to rear counterweight or go to a junkyard or find someone with one.

Also can't remember the year but I know they went from 215mm flywheel to 225. Mazdatrix is showing same part number for 83-85. Just cross checked with mazdacomp they're showing 83-85 should be all the same.

The lightweight steel and aluminum flywheels bolt up to the counter weight bolted to the engine with the 58mm nut. It does not matter if you iuse a 215mm flywheel or 225mm flywheel as long as you use the right counter weight and have a flywheel that matches your clutch. Make sure that you get the right counter weight, there are three different ones for a 12a.

Yes, you need an auto counterweight that matches the year of your rotating assembly.

A 215 clutch will work with a 225 flywheel, but a 225 clutch will not work for a 215 flywheel. It will not fit in to the whole for the clutch.

Yes, it is the auto tranny counter weight from an ealier Rx7. You match the counter weight to the engine, not the flywheel. If your car is an 83 then you need a counter weight from an earlier car.

Nope, you want an 83 or earlier counter weight. the conter weights from the 84-85 are to balance the lighter rotor that are in those engines. It will not work right for an engine with the slightly heavier rotors found in later engines.

No problem
You need a 215mm clutch and an 83 or earlier counter weight.
Then you are set!

You need an 84/85 12A automatic counterweight.

He has an 84 12A. Why are you telling him to get an 83 counterweight?

cool, sorry i am confusing you guys. what exactly does this damn counterweight do anyway? balance the rotors? why would changing the flywheel (rotating mass) need a balance? is the light flywheel thiner to make room for this weight? sorry about all the questions, but i might be installing this soon and would like to under stand the principles of operation. plus you guys seem to know your ****.
