Could this be why?

My rex has a problem and i was wondering if snyone could help me out with it. When the engine is cold especially the engine has a slight miss and when you give it as when taking off it kind of chokes then goes. I put new plugs in it. I was wondering if the miss would be the rotor cap and the coils? Otherwise i have no idea what it could be. I believe the bauking is a fuel related problem rather then an ignition one but i dont know what. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Does it happen when the choke pulls in too?

Can you make it "baulk" when it's warm by stepping on the throttle quickly?

When its cold and i pull the choke out it sputters a little before increasing revs.

I can make it baulk by pressing the throttle quickly even when its warmed up. Its more noticeable when you are moving like rigth after you shift and accelerate it kind of stalls before accelerating.

could be a clogged cat
or your just getting low compression

I'll make the guess of the accelerator pump. It could just be running too lean, but if it boggs done with throttle blip, it may be that accelerator pump not working well or not refilling quickly. The fact that it happens with cold choke as well points to it. A clogged cat will usually limit top end rpms because it can't get rid of pressure fast enough. The affected rpm drops as it gets worse.
Also make sure the shutter valve is working and not stuck. Check compression anytime for good measure!

my cat isn't plugged cuz i just took it off and knocked all the **** out of it.
So maybe its the alccelerator pump ill check it out.

but do you know why it would miss? Should i change the cap and rotor for the hell of it. Or do you think its the coils.

I had the compression checked and it was good!

you shouldnt need to changed the cap or the rotor unless either is visibly cracked or burned

BTW you should check aroud for vacume leaks

I was going to say the exact same thing.

So now I'm just going to quote you and make it look like I know more about it than you J/K

K, the accelerator pump sprays a little spurt of gas into the carb every time you step on the throttle, which gives the engine enough gas for the split second that it needs it when the venturi effect isn't happening very well in your carb (low throttle activation). so if it isn't working, when you step on the gas pedal, there's a second when not enough gas is getting sucked into the engine by its vacuum... causing a stumble...
