Hey guys. So the otherday I started my car and was letting it warm up. I could tell it didn't sound right but I didn't think anything of it. Thought it was just an exhaust leak... so I start driving and get about 20 feet away and it starts acting really weird. No power below 4k rpm. And under full throttle it really chugs and shakes. It also isn't idoling very well. Probably 100 rpm... my dad and I were looking at it the next day listening to it and reving it a little and then all of the sudden coolant starts pouring onto the floor from right under the spark plugs...

So my question: is there coolant lines right around that area that could have burst or am I looking at a serious problem?

My car is an 84 gsl. High milage 230000 ish km.

There's a hose that goes to the heater to the right of the spark plugs, under the oil cooler.

The o-rings on the oil cooler under the filter are notorious for failing over time and leaking oil on to that hose.

Well the coolant leak has nothing to do with the way it is running unless you overheated the crap out of the engine!

Need to perform a compression test now!

a compression test can be done with a normal piston compression tester right?

Also I've never had the car over heat on me... and these symptoms all happened around the same time that's why I think its weird for them not to be related.

so i figured it all out. The coolant leak was coming from the tube that passes behind the oil filter as stated by j tso. Thank you very much, and i think the power issue was coming from a clogged fuel filter. I change it fairly regularly but i know some other friends are having the same troubles so probably a batch of bad gas at the local gas bar was just enough to clog it.

Ill take a look at it thanks. Also I've been meaning to ask you but since this is my own thread I don't feel bad about topic change. Did you have to weld when you put on your re speed coilovers?
