Yes, that is the heater core hose. You will meed to determine which route you want. No heat and reroute the hoses. It will require blocking the heater core. The long metal tube that runs across the firewall has a tee at the heater core connections. You'll need to block the one going to the heater core.
The other option like mentioned is to go front mount oil cooler.

Crap.
I’ve had to deal with a similar situation with my kids 79 as well. A12a from 83-85 should have a metal tee that the hose from the heater core attaches to as well as a hose for the bee hive. There should be a hard tube that runs from the oil cooler beehive to the front engine cover. If that tube is there you likely have a 83-85 engine. If the tee is missing someone may have cut it. Or... you have an engine that originally was equipped with the front mount oil cooler that fit under the radiator (79-82) you are sporting a 78 build year in sonic bronze. My kid has the exact same car. It came with the shorter radiator with a oil cooler mated under it. I can’t make out what radiator you have. Or even if the original oil cooler still is attached.
now what? I’m not sure. If you have the front mount oil cooler and associated hoses, I would ditch the beehive and get a oil filter pedestal and connect the heater hose to the rear iron. If that is not an option then you will need to figure out a tee line so you can run your heater and keep the oil cooler functioning. More pictures could help us help you

works fine. Were the igniters on the later 80's dizzy? The car is 78 but engine was swapped with the later 12a. Irons had pretty bad step wear so I bought some mint condition ones from a 79 12a I believe. Frankenstein engine.
