Completed rebuild
I rebuilt my 12a yesterday. I already had the street porting completed. Started in about 3:00 pm yesterday and was finished by 9:00 last night. Of course I already had everything cleaned and painted and ready. I actually thought it was fairly simple. Got it all buttoned up, everything installed on the front and the front cover installed. All that's left to do is the OMP, dizzy, flywheel and clutch to install and it will be ready to bolt up the tranny and install. Going to be running a holly intake with a 600 Edelbrock and RB headers. Iwas going to take pics of the rebuild process and post a rebuild thread, but got so focused on the rebuild I was almost done before I thought about it. I will try to get some pics up of the engine before I install it. Thanks for all of the help and advice from everyone.
God bless,

I will try to get some pics up when I get time. As far as the rebuild goes, it's all about checking everything out, making sure it's within specs, good prep work, cleaning, painting, ect., and taking your time and not using too much Hylomar. I only used a thin coat on the water seals, dowel pin o-rings and the base of the engine where the oil chamber is. Used plenty of Vasoline when installing the oil rings, side, corner and apex seals. I super glued the corner pieces of the apex seals to the end of the seals which makes it a lot simpler when installing them. The guy that did my porting has rebuilt over 100 rotary engines the past 20+ years and gave me a lot of good tips. I think it's mostly about taking your time and paying attention. And having things clean with a clean place to do the work. A good cigar also helps.

My first rebuild, but I have torn down about 4 engines looking for good housings. Finally found some on the forum. I am going to pickup an 85 next weekend a guy gave me. Someone brought it to him several years ago because it was running rough and he couldn't find the vaccum leak. He said the body, engine and driveline are in good shape. He said it didn't smoke any the lst time he started it. Probably doesn't have many miles on it as it has been sitting for several years. He just wants it out of his way, so it's a freebee and another engine to dismantle. I learned a lot from tearing engines down, paying attention to how everything works and where it goes. I don't think there is anything about these cars that is too complicated, or at least something someone on this forum can't help you with.
