Complete Electrical Loss

I got a 83 GSL with the 12A from a 84 GS in it, no emissions gear. I've been driving it for about a year with little to no problem. I was cruisin to work and all of the sudden, I lost all electrical. No lights, no ignition, nothing. I checked all of the fuses, fusible links, and looked around for melty wires. Found no culprit. I cleaned the wires goin to the battery and reconnected them, also to no avail. Any ideas?

How old are the battery wires? Does the battery have a charge on it? Whats the output voltage of the alternator? (I know it doesn't crank but you may want to have it checked).

You could have been running on battery for awhile due to the alternator not working or some
other reason for it not to get the charge. Verify the cables to the alternator are all connected right.

I would verify the battery then have it jump started to see what the issue may be.

I have been tempting fate for too long endurance racing with those stupid fusible links. I just finished a second round of excess wire elimination and now I only have the main power wire from the alternator coming from the front of the car and I replaced the fusible links with a 100 amp circuit breaker.
