Combo switch spinning

My combo switch seems loose on the steering column and just spins around. The bolt on the little band that holds it to the column is as tight as it can get. How else can I hold this straight?

Looks like this little hook-shaped part is supposed to grab something to tension to, but it’s just there. What is it supposed to hook to?

there's supposed to be an 1/8th inch (about) tab that sticks out of the steering column at a 90 degree angle that goes into the clamp. You can/feel it on the underside of the column.

A few fanatical helpers here will remove their combi assembly just so they can post a picture here showing what I mean

The plastic tab that the metal loop hooks over frequently snaps off during improper removal of the combination switch. You can improve a new tab with a long self-tapping screw.

I don't have good photos unfortunately as the RHD combination switch has a completely different shape body to your ones.

oops! I meant to say the tab sticks out from the clamp. the tab inserts into a hole on the steering column. this is for a u.s. left hand drive car.
