trouble installing headlight combo switch
Ok, this is on my 83 GS project car. Everytime I put the combo switch on and tighten it down it goes a little crooked. Enough that the steering wheel rubs it and pushed the blinker switch up and down. I thought maybe it was cracked or something and that was keeping it from going on straight so I got another one and it does the same thing. Is there some kind of spacer or something that may have fallen out or I'm missing. I can't seem to figure out why its going on crooked. Anyone else have this problem?

Tab?
I just did this install *several* times on an 85, for various unfortunate reasons. The 85 model has a tab at the top rear of the combo switch. It's plastic, and liable to break and come off, which I observed first hand. That is, the switch you have may be missing the entire tab. If the tab is missing, there is nothing to solidly hold it in its place and it would be easy for it to rotate. That said, I have seen in searches here that not all combo switches have the tab. Even on the 85, there is a screw that tightens to hold the switch onto the steering column. That screw is what *really* holds it place -- much more than the tab.
What I am suggesting is that you just need to bear down a little more (not too much) on the screw that holds the combo switch to the steering column.
Good luck.
