(ELECTRICAL) How To: Remove Combination Switch

I did a fair amount of searching and was not able to find much help on removing the combination switch. There were some posts describing it a little. but nothing with good detail, and no pictures. So this is for those people that are struggling to get it removed as I did.

Removing the steering wheel and steering column covers is pretty straight-forward, so get that done and you will be looking at the combination switch.

First, loosen the bolt/screw on the bottom that tightens the clamp around the column (see picture 1).

There's a collar at the front of the combination switch that can be removed. I had to gently pry mine off because the grease was pretty stiff. See picture 2.

The clamp is attached to the top of the combination switch with a "hook" that attaches to a **** at the top of the combination switch, at the back. Picture 3 shows this hook engaged after the switch has been removed (for clarity), and picture 4 shows it disengaged.

Once the hook is disengaged, you need to push up on the tab that is just below where the hook engages. See picture5.

What this does is disengage a little **** that fits into a hole in the top of the steering column. See picture 6 in the next post.

Here's the 6th picture, showing the **** that needs to be disengaged from the steering column. Once this is done, the combination switch will slide off the steering column.

Good luck!

Actually, now that I look at this some more, I don't think you need to disengage the hoof...I think you just need to loosen the clamp with the screw/bolt on the bottom.

Yeah just unscrew the clamp screw and unplug all the connections and it should come off.
