I didn't expect this many responses. I don't want white or black so those two are out. I don't really want red or any shade of red, so that gets rid of all the oranges etc. Before I started this thread I was thinking about Gunmetal Gray, I just didn't want to say anything to sway anyones response. I am also considering Chateau Silver, the color of the 83 Limiteds. I know that contradicts my earlier statement about wanting a non factory color, but they only made 5000 of those so close enough for me. I always liked that color, plus I have the 83 LE wheels on the car, so it would be fitting. I have a whole winter to decide, keep the suggestions coming

Yep only 5000. I have one too, rotted out and being used for parts. Not to knock it or anything, but the only thing that really makes a 83 LE special is the wheels, they didn't even bother putting a GSL rear end in it, cheap bastards. Oh yea, that color paint was only used on 83 LE's too, so thta also makes it different. Other than that its just a 83 GS with a red interior. You'd think they would base a Limited car on the best one, the GSL, but for some reason they didn't. Again, not trying to bash your car, its in good shape, and any first gen is sweet, just pointing out that 83 LE's aren't really any more special than other FB's.
How about transparent blue over a silver undercoat? "Candy blue" looks a foot thick, and so tasty you'll want to lick it. Hard to do properly, though, as the color coat has to be totally EVEN. When It's done right it's a beautiful thing! -WG
BTW, that '83 does seem like a pretty good deal to me!

I'm liking that Ford blue metallic!
I think I'd go white or that blue. Or, if you want to be really crazy, you could try to find Audi's "India Red" that they used up through their 2001 model line on the A4. It look a little bit like burnt orange, and it's a really awesome looking color. That's my 2 cents.

Yea, that ford blue metallic does look pretty cool. Right now I'm leaning towards Chateau Silver though. It would match the wheels, and I always liked that color. Oh well, this paint job ain't gonna happen till April at the earliest. Plenty of time to change my mind 300 times.
Then this shot should really have you drooling. It also answers an earlier question as to whether MAACO will paint parts...I tossed the Kamei air dam in the hatch area and told them to paint it separate but do not install it...they did all the prep work on that piece themselves...schweet!!

Do a silver with a blue pearl coat. So it will change color in the light.
My last car was tender blue with a red/green pearl coat that made it change between purple and tender blue. It was faded from front to back so it looked sweet.

A color changing scheme would be cool, but like I said earlier I plan on doing this my self and being relatively new to body work I wanna keep it simple, if at all possible. Thanks again for the suggestions guys.

looks like that Kamei dam might actually look good on the car.
I don't like mose air dams on FB bodies as they make the car forward of the front wheel look 'heavy', but if it preserves the chisel nose styling yet negates the huge nose lift that goes with it, I'm all for it
