clutches

84 GSL-SE
Ok guys I've been debating on the different clutches and choices I can get. Now I really like the racey feeling that I can get. I want to feel the my car is a freaking ferrari and I don't car if I have to push as hard as I can on the clutch to get it down. Now is it possible to have a race ready clutch in a street driven vehicle? If the driver is careful and not hard on the car don't you think it would be possible.
I've seen a guy with a civic si turbo'd and head work and **** have a stage 3 clutch and to take off he had to ride the clutch so he wouldn't be pushed back into the seat. Now is this going to hurt the vehicle in anyway?
I don't want to go as far as ripping my interior out but I really like the thought of having my car a street driven race car. I'm got a roll cage built into the interior all ready(bought it with it). It's really clean and I have 5-pt harness for the driver and passenger. Cup holders is something I'm not really worried about. Having the proper gauges and layout in the interior is what I'm worried about.
OK off topic. But back to the clutch. Is a 6 puck going to hurt the vehicle in anyway, and is there anything I can do to help keep the tranny and u-joints and everything alive.
(by the way it's a 13B 4-port with a mikuni carb,street-port, full exhaust, e-fan, no emissions, front sway bar, rear adjustable sway bar, racing beat springs, tockico 5-way adjustables, all the crap not needed in the engine bay. and the rollbar is right behind the seats)

peejay will say your tranny will die if you get a clutch that is too extreme for uh whatever it will be used for. Hmm, a 6 puck, sprung center, with centerforce P plate? No wait, their disks and plates work better together. Well, I'm spent.

It made sense to me rereading it this morning. Maybe you didn't get it the first time you read it. Would you like me to copy and pastes it into a new post for you? (joke)

I'm suprised others (peejay) haven't added anything to this thread yet.

I'd say get a DXD 6 puck from www.southbendclutch.com Tell them you want the pressure plate double sprung and you want the disc to be full ceramic instead of ceramic/kevlar. That's the clutch I'm using, it grips like a ************, but still engages smooth and the pedal is barely harder than stock.

I doubt it'll hurt your car at all. I've been using this clutch, beating on my car all the time, and I've got 250hp I'm not sure how I havn't shattered my stock tranny yet, but if I havn't, then I don't think you really have to worry.

get a racingbeat street strip clutch... the price is very reasonable and it wont break your tranny the first time you speedshift it

My theory is, better the clutch slip than the tranny breaking.

If you're making stock or close to stock power, the stock clutch (or a stock FC clutch) is pleeeennnty.
