Clutch Recommendations??

I just purchased an 85GSL that is in need of a clutch replacement. My plan is to drive it this summer and this winter transfer everything from my old 83 (Weber side draft 45DCOE that has been choked down to a 40 by Skip Gorman and using one of his lake cities rotary manifold and a racing beat street port exhaust). I will have the engine street ported at this time but this is pretty much all I plan on doing to it. Since I am not going for a high horsepower build would the Exedy stock clutch work or would it be best to just get the Exedy stage 1 clutch?

No experience with exedy, however I know the center force worked well for me under all kinds of abuse with an OER 47 mm 2 barrel side draft on a street port 12a with header and full 2.5 exhaust.... Multiple multiple 5-7k drops and never had an issue till I turboed it.... Then it slipped like crazy but I expected that..

"Exedy stock clutch" should be the right choice for you. How much torque will you be making anyway? Less than 200ftlbs? NA? Yeah, "Exedy stock clutch".

Zaridar, thank you for your recommendation of the Centerforce. I have read the right up on the Mazdatrix website, it looks like they are only offering the dual friction model.

Jeff, thank you for taking the time to answer. I would love for a N/A 12A to be able to make over 200ftlbs but we know there is NO way that will happen. I figured the OEM replacement https://www.mazdatrix.com/f-ExedyKits.htm would be the way to go but there are no torque figures on the site, I just wanted to see if there was any different opinions. Thanks!!

I liked the centerforce dual friction I had on my ITA car. Check ebay, there is one on there that is new but has been on a shelf for years.

THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!!!! No one bid on the clutch and I got it for $99.00 plus shipping.

I know it is going to be overkill for what I am going to do but you cannot beat that price. I just hope it is in the condition it is reported to be in, but I paid through paypal so I should be safe.

How is the pedel feel? Is it much stiffer than stock?
