Clutch Problem, nothing there, Help!

parked my car last night and all was well.. but i went to start it up this morning.. and pressed the clutch to put her in gear.. and the pedal hit the fllor and stayed there..

Nothing there.. no resistence whatsoever.. tried bleeding the system... still nothing..

if anyone has a clue as to what it may be.. let me know please.. i need my car for work..

she's a 1985 GS model, 5 speed standard (obviously) with the 12A..

thanks..

Probably your clutch master or slave cylinder has **** the bed. (assuming you bled it correctly.)

These are relatively cheap and painless to rebuild or replace.

enigma32 hit the nail on the head! Master and or slave. Re-build both for under $20, or buy both for around $70. That isn't each that is for both. Any more than that and they are trying to rip off.

Parts are not that cheap.

this is lame.. i want to clarify if you're talking about US Funds or CAN Funds..

Lordco auto parts wants $140 just for the master with a 30% discount..

rebuild kits.. are $20 for amaster, and $15 for a slave..

rebuild is sounding better.. BUT.. iv'e heard it only lasts like 2 years and craps out again..

so.. hit me with some info you guys.. what way do i go.. im on a budget.. and i dont have alot of time..

I replaced mine, so I can't comment on rebuilding...

That sounds like US dollars that he's giving prices in.

Look down where the slave piston moves the clutch fork. While someone depresses the pedal, look for travel. Its possible its not the hyd system. Could be a broken fork or broken pressure plate.

Yep it's US dollars, I don't the conversion since I never have to use it. I have re-built before and it last for 5 years until I sold the car. I don't know what to tell you, I guess it would depend on the manufacter of the kit. Just guessing, but there isn't anyting special about it. There is no reason why it would only last 2 years. Take one apart and see for yourself, there aren't that many moving parts so WTF? Do what you like and follow what you want, but for my money I re-build everything that is worth building.

Oh yea and lets not forget.....to hell with re-built motors also!! Just throw that sucker away and get a NEW one! Why? Because john nimble nuts said it wouldn't last.............Sorry for the sarcasm but surely you see my point with this.

yo.. my clutch works great now.. but the adjustment is out.. i cant get the slack out of the pedal.

whenever i adjust to get rid of the slack at the top, the clutch grabs like 6 inches from the bottom.. i want it to grab near the bottom so i have more control over the clutching..

if i adjust the clutch to grab where i like it to start grabbing.. then there is 2 inches of free play at the top..

any ideas? The system is well bled.. so i have no idea..

Adj. srew at the top as well as the bottom. I never could get the damn thing lose on mine so just left it. 2" free at the bottom max on mine, and I don't care about the top.
